Combining finely detailed hand-crafted animatronics, interactive consoles, a lush setting and educational content that reflect the latest scientific theories, ValleyFair’s Dinosaurs Alive dinos have moved to the Minnesota Zoo starting Summer 2023. All the excitement of a tail thrashing, clawing and roaring exhibition with more than 30 life-sized, moving animatronic dinosaurs, but the opportunity for guests of all ages to actively engage in a unique learning experience. Scenes and stories are based on real fossil evidence, such as the predator trap at Cleveland-Lloyd in Utah and the Pachyrhinosaurus flash flood episode from Pipestone Creek in Alberta, Canada. Other key scenes depicting behaviors and diversity include an attack by a pack of Deinonychus on a lone Tenontosaurus, and an adult and sub-adult Tyrannosaurus rex stalking a Triceratops; encounter the beasts that dominated the planet for over 180 million years. The roaring seems less threatening in the landscape setting, with clear escape routes, but think about the scare level, and prepare them ahead with pictures! We told the kids the dinosaurs were saying "Hello!"
Have you seen Dino Dana on Amazon Prime? It is the newer, girl power version of Dino Dan. Completely addicting for Dino addicts. Half-hour shows they never tire of. Dana appears to be in the 9-11 range, but she is a hero to my 3.5 yr-old dino lover. There is a new Dino Dana Movie opening March 21st, 2020.
Plan a dinosaur movie nite! You could Google dino movies to find a few less terrifying that Jurassic Park, like Disney’s Dinosaur (2000) that tells the story of an orphaned iguanodon raised by a group of lemurs. The film was a box-office success and lauded for magnificent CGI effects, although some critics were not fond of the celebrity voices for the dinosaur characters (Ha! Now they are in everything!); the original Land Before Time (1988) tells the story of an Apatosaurus named Littlefoot, who will probably always be one of our favorite dinosaurs of all time; Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaur (2009)where Manny, Diego, and Sid encounter dinosaurs in a tropical world buried beneath the ice ; Pixar’s The Good Dinosaur (2015) What if the cataclysmic asteroid that forever changed life on Earth actually missed the planet completely and giant dinosaurs never became extinct?; Night at the Museum, with Ben Stiller running in terror from the living dinosaur skeleton; or you could show how they created dino drama before color and special effects with The Lost World (1925).
